Installing your Sun Eclipse screens: step by step

You’ve received your Sun Eclipse screen(s) and are ready to install them. Good news: installing our sun shading screens is quick and easy, with no drilling or screws required. In this blog, we’ll show you step by step how to attach your screen(s) properly and how to enjoy them for as long as possible.

TIP!
Keep the original packaging and accessories. This allows you to store the screen neatly when putting it away in autumn. When storing it, make sure not to fold the fabric, once folded, the creases will not disappear.

Installing Sun Eclipse screens: here’s how!

Step 1: prepare the suction cups

Installing the screen starts with preparing the suction cups. First, disassemble the suction cups and place the flexible part (part A) in a bowl of boiling water. Leave it there for at least one minute. The heat restores the rubber to its original shape, making it easier to attach.

Step 2: clean for optimal adhesion

Proper adhesion starts with a clean window and clean suction cups. Use the included alcohol wipe or, even better, the specially developed Sun Eclipse Cleaner. This ensures the surfaces are grease-free and allows the suction cups to adhere optimally.

Remember: good preparation is key to long-lasting performance without coming loose.

Step 3: attach the screen to the window

Now it’s time to place the screen on the window. Start with the top two corners. Press the suction cups firmly against the glass so they adhere properly. Then continue with the remaining attachment points, ensuring the screen sits tight against the window.

Step 4: finalize the installation

To secure the screen, unscrew part C and briefly remove the fabric. Then place part B over part A. Reattach the screen and tighten part C completely. Repeat this for all mounting points.
Your screen is now firmly and neatly installed, ready to block the sun.

Frequently asked questions

At Sun Eclipse, we continually strive to provide our customers with the best possible support. For this reason, we have collected and answered the most common questions in our FAQ. This way, you can easily find answers to all your questions.

Go to FAQ
  • Do Sun Eclipse screens stay put during strong winds?

Sun Eclipse screens and suction cups stay put even during a spring storm. Our screens catch little wind because they are close to the windows and the suction cups are designed to last.

  • Do the screens fade after a few years?

No, the screens are UV-resistant and hardly fade. Both the fabric and the suction cups are designed to withstand prolonged exposure to sunlight without noticeable loss of quality or appearance.

Thanks to a special coating, the colors stay vibrant for longer and dirt hardly adheres to the surface.

In practice, the screens remain in excellent condition season after season, especially if you clean them once a year and store them clean and dry after the season. This way, they last for many years with minimal fading.

  • What does excess fabric mean?

Because Sun Eclipse screens are placed 2 cm from the window’s surface, the screens are supplied with 1.5 cm excess fabric on each side (3 cm per width and height). As a result, the screens close properly and no heat and light can pass through the edges.

You can also opt for no excess fabric, for instance, if you have high square upright edges on your window frames. In this case, choose under ‘which type of frame do you have’ the option ‘Deep and angled’ when you order.

You can request any other changes in the order option. This way you can create a custom sunshade.

  • Can I request a quote?

Use our online ordering tool and see the price immediately.

  • Do you also provide measuring and installation services?

Sun Eclipse is an affordable solution to keep your home cool. That’s why we operate online only. By letting customers handle the simple measuring and installation themselves, we keep costs, and therefore our prices as low as possible.

  • Do the suction cups leave marks on my window?

No, the suction cups do not leave any permanent marks or damage on the glass. They attach using a strong vacuum to the smooth surface, without any adhesives or chemicals. After removal, you may occasionally notice a light residue, for example from dust or condensation. This can be easily cleaned with the Sun Eclipse Cleaner and a clean cloth.
