The summer is over, and you want to remove your Sun Eclipse screens and store them during the colder months. Fortunately, removing our screens is just as easy as installing them. Follow these steps to safely remove and store your screens, so you can enjoy them again next season.
Before you start: what you need to know
Are your screens dirty? You’ll probably want to clean them, but only do this after removing them. Store the screens only once they are completely dry, and make sure to use the original box.
Important: Never fold the fabric! Folding can cause permanent creases that won’t come out. Instead, roll the fabric up loosely.
Start by unscrewing part C, the cap on the outside of the suction cup. Unscrew it completely so you can easily remove the fabric from part A, the suction cup itself.
Carefully detach the screen from the suction cups. There’s no need to use force, by handling it gently, you keep the fabric in perfect condition.
Once the screen is fully detached, you can remove the suction cups from the window one by one. Gently pull on part A until the suction cup releases from the glass. If needed, you can slide a finger or a card under the edge to let in a bit of air and speed up the release.
Parts D and E can remain attached to the screen.
Then use the alcohol wipe or Sun Eclipse Cleaner to clean both the window and the suction cups. This keeps them in good condition and ready for reuse.
Now that you’ve removed the screens, it’s important to clean them before storing. Spray the screen with the Sun Eclipse Cleaner, then use a clean cloth or paper towel to wipe it thoroughly. Rinse with plenty of water and allow it to dry completely.
You can also clean your window using the Sun Eclipse Cleaner and a clean cloth or paper towel.
The suction cups only need to be cleaned before reinstallation. This can also be done easily with the Sun Eclipse Cleaner and a clean cloth or paper towel.
Collect all components: the screen, suction cups, and caps. Store them together in the original packaging. Roll the screen loosely to avoid folding. Keep the box in a dry, dust-free place, such as a storage room or a cupboard at room temperature.
With proper removal and careful storage, your Sun Eclipse sun shading will stay in top condition season after season. Follow the steps above or watch our video guide. You’ll not only save costs, but also extend the lifespan of your purchase.
Thanks to the simple system, removing the screens takes just a few minutes, no tools or technical knowledge required.
Still have questions after reading these steps? Feel free to contact us. We’re happy to help, so you can store your sun shading with confidence until next summer.

At Sun Eclipse, we continually strive to provide our customers with the best possible support. For this reason, we have collected and answered the most common questions in our FAQ. This way, you can easily find answers to all your questions.
Sun Eclipse screens and suction cups stay put even during a spring storm. Our screens catch little wind because they are close to the windows and the suction cups are designed to last.
The suction cups are a maximum of 100 cm apart. If your screen has a length and/or width that is larger, an extra suction cup is placed halfway so that the maximum distance between two suction cups, measured along one side, is never greater than 100 cm.
Sun Eclipse screens are made of sustainable material, last a long time and ensure lower energy consumption when using air conditioners. It is the simplest solution to indoor heat.
Because Sun Eclipse screens are placed 2 cm from the window’s surface, the screens are supplied with 1.5 cm excess fabric on each side (3 cm per width and height). As a result, the screens close properly and no heat and light can pass through the edges.
You can also opt for no excess fabric, for instance, if you have high square upright edges on your window frames. In this case, choose under ‘which type of frame do you have’ the option ‘Deep and angled’ when you order.
You can request any other changes in the order option. This way you can create a custom sunshade.
Sun Eclipse is an affordable indoor heat solution. That’s why we are online only. By letting the customer do the measuring and assembly, we keep costs, and therefore prices, low.
